While there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 14270 and it's 3000 movement, I chose to go with the upgraded 114270 after reading James Dowling's article below. Which Rolex Explorer 14270 or 114270 or 214270???
#2 · Apr 4, 2020 The 114270 has SELs, a more modern movement and a super luminova dial. All that for not a whole lot more than the 14270. The five digit reference has a tritium dial, but it's kind of negated by the painted numerals. So any patina might look odd.

The Case There are no surprises with the case. The 14270 Explorer has a 36mm oyster style case that is distinctly Rolex. The lug to lug is only 43.6mm.
